Dear Reindeer

Dear Reindeer,
Christmas wouldn’t be possible without the help of each and every one of you. You’re each individually special and I appreciate the heart and energy you put into your work. I just want all of you precious reindeer to know how much I truly appreciate you all.
Dasher, your short bursts of speed and energy are essential to make sure that the job gets done.
Dancer, having an athletic and fast reindeer on my team really helps a lot. You being so athletic and graceful helps me and my sleigh avoid obstacles throughout the holiday season. You're a stunning reindeer that also helps our appearance, even though we're not seen that much.
Prancer, you're the most majestic reindeer I have on my team. Your high leg kicks and perfect posture helps the team in many ways. Remember, confidence is key.
Vixen, even though you're an extreme flirt, you have great strength and stamina. You keep this team going with your playful attitude and dedication.
Comet, you're stubborn, but you make up for it with your strong will, unique leadership ability and you're always focused.
Cupid, you're a very loving reindeer and a great running companion for Comet. You always need a little extra attention, but that's okay because you're the favorite of my beloved Mrs. Claus.
Donner, you're a very proud and confident reindeer and I admire you for that. You're one of the strongest on my team, there fore you pick up for other's slack.
Blitzen, you're aggressive and very determined, but no reindeer could have a bigger heart than you do.
Rudolph, my dear Rudolph, you're the youngest of the bunch and you get picked on a lot for your large, glowing, red nose but you do save Christmas regularly. Thank you.

Love always,
Santa

Influencing Change

Influencing Change:

To Kill a Mockingbird by Nelle Harper Lee is a prejudice story that includes purity, and strength. The setting is in Maycomb County, Alabama. Within the movie, there is a false accusation set to an African-American man by the name Tom Robinson. Tom is accused of raping a younger female whom is white. Since people are cruel and racist, Atticus Finch the lawyer of Tom has a difficult time defending him as a white lawyer. But his daughter, the main character, Jean Louise (Scout) Finch isn't aware of the prejudice times around her. Being a black man as a large disadvantage causes Tom and Atticus to lose the trial, announcing Tom as guilty rather than innocent.

Back in the mid ninety’s people were much more prejudiced and racist, but even though it’s said that we’re over that stage now, you can still see racist acts happening today in our everyday life. To Kill a Mockingbird gives you a different outlook on what society is really like. By showing that a little girl can see the wrong in the world but grown adults cannot, makes you really believe that adult doesn’t have any common sense.

Reading To Kill a Mockingbird certainly made me realize the sick world around us. People shouldn’t be judged by their race or religion, but by their personalities. If a white man is accused of a tragedy and the people know that it was impossible for the man to complete the task, then the man would be let go. But if it were a black man, they wouldn’t take into consideration his disabilities; they’d simply give him an unfair trial and send him to prison, taking him away from possibly his wife and children.

The book gives you a complete understanding of how people aren’t always treated fairly. People will be judged by their race and it isn’t right to do so. People should be judged by their actions, rather than the color of their skin or their beliefs. A book or piece of work can change someone's entire outlook on things, To Kill a Mockingbird certainly changed mine.

Time Capsule

PART 1
Dear Time Capsule Committee,

I hope you truly consider in giving me the honour of placing my items in the time capsule.

Granny’s Jump Rope
I believe that my grandmother’s jump rope should qualify to be placed into the time capsule. It has significance for both me and my grandmother, since she's had it since she was a child. I would really enjoy having this extraordinary and unique item placed for my family’s generations to come.

Grandaddy and Me (Picture)
My grandfather is one of the most amazing men that I have ever met.  He is a remarkable man and I will continue to look up to him just like I always have (physically and metaphorically). Ever since the day I was born, we had a strong connection that could never be replaced. I never want my granddaddy to be forgotten. This picture includes him, me and a bright red tractor. He bought this tractor because when he worked in the field with his father, he built up a love for them; I believe that should be remembered.

Adam Sandler Movies
My favorite actor is Adam Sandler, he is simply hilarious. Every move he makes and words that come out of his mouth simply crack me up. My Uncle Scott (brother of my mother) introduced me to Adam Sandler by getting me to watch a movie with him, ever since I’ve been star struck. My favorite movies are “Mr. Deeds” and “Billy Madison” and I think others should be able to enjoy these films like I did.

Liam Hemsworth (Picture)
Liam Hemsworth is absolutely beautiful and since in 100 years he won’t be alive and will most likely be forgotten, I believe that people should be able to enjoy his beauty in the future. He is an amazing man and I’d like for my family to know that I have good taste and that the people of 2012 weren't entirely disgusting or hard on the eyes.

Captains Basketball Jersey #23
My basketball jersey means a lot to me. It has my favorite number and the large blue "C”. I love playing basketball, I want everyone to know that and possibly even consider playing themselves. That's if in 100 years they still play sports, since technology is taking over the world.

PART 2
      Dear people of the future,

This letter your are reading dates back about one-hundred years.

My name is Moranda, your ancestor. My parents are Dwayne and Angela, I have a brother, Jesse and a half sister, Anjie. My grandparents on my mother's side are George (Grandaddy) and Heather (Granny). My grandparents on my father's side are Walter (Grampy) and Mildred (Grammy). As for my great grandparents, I only have four left; Julie, Grandaddy's mother; Hayde and Phil, Granny's parents; and Mary, Grampy's mother.

I am a 15 year old Canadian girl that lives in a tiny village of Blackville, New Brunswick. There isn't much to do in Blackville or it's surrounding area, and since I tend to be a social butterfly I struggle to deal with this small place. We have run down malls, and the best place to be is either the hockey rink or the Studio 5 theater. But then again, most of us struggled for money for gas to get to these places. There isn't much work which sends many people's family's out west until they can afford to come home. "There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy and no money to buy it with, nothing to see..." as it states in To Kill a Mockingbird by Nelle Harper Lee.

Our prime minister of Canada today, Wednesday, December. 5th, 2012 is Stephen Harper. He is most likely the most important man to us Canadians. Also, Osama Bin Laden was killed in my life time, he was a cruel terrorist. In fact, everyone celebrated his death. I'm sure if I began to speak about our technology know it would completely bore you people of 2112.

      Ciao,
      Moranda Frenette

Liam's Adventure

Liam’s Adventure
Moranda Frenette
I was seven years old at the time, and my mother still never believed I was responsible enough to wander around town with my friends without being under her supervision. I don’t know if she was scared I would get hurt, someone would try to kidnap me or if she was just simply overprotective. If I knew then what I knew now at the age of forty-five, I wouldn’t disagree with my mother’s wise decisions to keep me held hostage. The world is such a sick and twisted place now, it’s not safe for children to go out by themselves when there’s maniacs such as rapists, murderers, etc. on the loose.
My mother keeping me held up in our small-town home wasn’t such a terrible thing; it may have advantaged me in some ways. When I was young, I had the most complex and incredible imagination. I could imagine myself in any place at any time, perhaps it’s because I couldn’t have friends that I began imagining my own adventures, meeting lots of new people and experiencing unbelievable opportunities.
There was one adventure I could remember the best, no it’s not just because I drew a picture of my experience on my wall with a sharpie but because it included 5 different astounding incidents.
I went to see my puppy Rusty, but he wouldn’t leave his fire engine red dog house; I decided to go inside. Toy my surprise, the inside of that little house was much larger than it seemed. It seemed to be as tall as a 66 story hotel. It contained dogs of all kinds, big dogs, small dogs, fat dogs, skinny dogs, white dogs, black dogs, like I said all dogs. The dogs could accomplish anything us humans could, they were working, going on rides at a central fair, and everything of the sort. It was fascinating. I spent hours trying to fit in, but it just wouldn’t work.
I left and ventured on to the next part of my journey, just as I thought I’d be able to rest, I found myself in the middle of an 19th century cowboys and Indians brawl. There were arrows and shots fired everywhere. I began to run, but there was nowhere to go. An older man with a large head piece made of feathers and many colors grabbed me by my arm and roughly threw me into a sort of tipi, he said something I couldn’t quite understand I believe he said “stay put”, then left. He returned moments later and started a large fire in the center of the irregularly large tent. He told me stories of how life was as an Indian chief and how he despised the cowboys and how they attack frequently. After a large ceremony, known as a powwow I left in search of a new experience.
I got lost along the way; I ended up in the woods. The trees were tall, there was no lighting and I started to run. I saw a light far off in the distance, I ran facing many obstacles along the way. There were the roars of lions, tigers and the growls of bears. It was absolutely terrifying.
I ran until I came to an elevated tree with a small tree house on the very top. I climbed and climbed until I finally reached my destination, I entered. To my surprise the tiny tree house was packed with many small and large TVs, all set on my favorite channel, “Treehouse”. I could have easily stayed there for days watching my favorite shows, “Babar” and “Bearstein Bears” and “Elmo’s World”, but I wanted to make friends so I left.
I then walked on, past multiple houses, across the street, by some garbage cans until I got flabbergasted by Oscar the Grouch from “Elmo” jumping out at me. He pulled me into the garbage can with him and it seemed as if we were falling forever until we finally landed on an enormous pile of garbage. I looked around to find Oscar again and he was already about 20 feet away towards a large sign saying “Sesame Street”, I was extremely thrilled. I continuously yelled “Oscar!” until he turned around and gestured his finger for me to follow him. We then entered Sesame Street and I met absolutely everyone including, Oscar, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Dorothy the fish, Grover, Bert & Ernie, Zoe and many more. After spending a great amount of my time playing in Sesame Street with my new friends, I went home.
When I got home, I took my Crayola crayons and drew a picture of my adventure on my wall in the form of a map. It is still there to this very day.

Top 5!

Top 5 Adam Sandler Movies
The top 5 Adam Sandler movies are as follows:
1)   Mr. Deeds
2)   Billy Madison
3)   Big Daddy
4)   Happy Gilmore
5)   That’s My Boy
First, here’s some background information on Adam Sandler himself…
Adam Sandler (Sandman) was born in Brooklyn, New York on September, 9th. 1966. When he was only 17 years old her took the stage at a comedy club in Boston spontaneously. There, he found he was a natural comic. Years go by and he experiences many different comedy related jobs. Now, he is one of the most famous hilarious actors. He can make you laugh until you’re blue in the face and clutching your stomach from the pain, in just the matter of seconds.
In a movie I look for mainly how well the actors/actress’ play their roles; or in this case, how Adam Sandler fits in the movie. Also, the plot can mean a lot when rating a film.
In fifth place comes That’s My Boy. Adam Sandler plays as the main character, Donny whom is still in his teens. Donny fathers a son, Todd. Donny raises Todd as a single parent until Todd’s 18th birthday. Donny and Todd haven’t seen one another for years and when Todd’s world starts to turn all around and be terrible on the day before his wedding, Donny shows up. Donny tries his heart out to become closer with his son and deal with how badly he has parented Todd.
In fourth comes Happy Gilmore, an old hockey player attempts to raise money for his under fire from the IRS grandmother. In order to save the house, he has to find a way to raise $270,000. Since Gilmore had experience in hockey, he managed to win a golf open by being able to drive the ball to phenomenal distances. Feeling threatened by Gilmore, Shooter McGavin begins to insult him. Gilmore’s new goal was to only beat Shooter rather than make the money, that he had forgotten completely about.
In third is Big Daddy. A lazy man known as Sonny Koufax stars in the movie. He seems to have no purpose in life as well as having issues when trying to focus which makes his girlfriend leave him. So, in order to prove that he has the ability to be responsible, he adopts a kid. Instead of just trying to get his girlfriend back by getting the kid, things get complicated and he becomes attached to his son.
In second is Billy Madison, a film by Robert Simonds productions. In the film, Adam Sandler plays an immature and lazy man that must repeat grades 1-12 all over again in order to be able to inherit his fed up father’s hotel empire. In the film, Billy ends up winning but gives away the hotel empire to a dear friend, and someone who could take care of it more properly.
In first place comes Mr. Deeds. A small pizzeria owner and poet, known as Longfellow Deeds gains $40 billion from his deceased uncle. He then moves to the big city and begins to be overwhelmed with people continuously trying to gain some of his money. A TV reporter named Babe pretends to be a small-town girl in hope to gain money from Deeds. Babe ends up falling in love with Deeds, but later on Deeds discovers money can change a lot but it doesn’t need to change him.
